How to Manually Delete the Browser History in the Registrythumbnail

To ensure your Internet browsing remains private, delete your browser history. The browser history is a list of URLs visited within the browser during a period of time. The Internet browser history is recorded in the Windows registry, but may be displayed through the browser by accessing the "History" area. The browser history may be deleted in two ways: either GUI-assisted from within the browser application or manually from within the Windows registry.

    • 1
Click the Windows "Start" button to open the "Search" input box.
    • 2
Type "regedit" (without quotes) into the Search input box and press the "Enter" key. The Windows Registry Editor will open.
    • 3
Press the F3 key or click "Edit" and then click "Find" to open the "Find/Replace" function in the Registry Editor.
    • 4
Type or copy and paste the following registry key into the "Find" input box and click "Find."
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
    • 5
Click the key in the left navigation panel to expand. Each visited URL will be listed under the key as a value.
    • 6
Right-click each entry and select "Delete" from the context menu. Click "OK" to verify. You can also highlight each item and press the "Delete" key. When all entries have been removed, the browser history has been manually deleted. Courtesy | eHow.com
