Atlast 3G and 4G Technology available in Pakistan


Long awaited next-generation telecommunications licences 3G and 4G will now available for public of Pakistan, Pakistan raises $1.2 billion with 3G and 4G license auction. Government sold 4 license of 3G service and 1 for 4G connection, although one 4G license still on pending to auction.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in January predict of raising atleast $2 billion from both spectrum auction. To boos Pakistan's floundering economy, these were necessary measures.



Population of more than 180 million of country where more than 132 million mobile phone subscribers exist but has lagged behind its neighbors in setting up 3G and 4G. But no more waiting now, Both will be available soon.

The final bids for the 3G licenses totalled $902.82 million, while the 4G license went to Zong for the reserve price of $210 million.

"After this auction, not only 132 million subscribers but the whole Pakistani nation has taken the road of progress," Rashid Khan. 


The successful bidders for 3G services were  Zong (China Mobile), Telenor( Norway), Mobilink (Russian) and Ufone, (Pakistani government). where as 4G won by one and only  Zong (China Mobile) company.

Zong will begin 3G services in the cities of Lahore and Karachi immediately, said by Sikanadar Naqi, a Zong advisor.

A study by the UK-based Plum consultancy in August last year said 3G could boost Pakistan´s GDP by between 380 billion and 1,180 billion rupees ($3.8 billion to $11.8 billion) by 2020.Up to 900,000 extra jobs could be created and between 23 billion and 70 billion rupees in additional tax revenue generated by 3G, the Plum report said.
